Python Reaction Timer: Build a Tkinter Reaction Game
This beginner-friendly Python project turns a simple button into a reaction-speed challenge. You wait for a random signal, click as quickly as possible, and see your reaction time in milliseconds. The desktop interface uses Tkinter, included with many Python installations.
PythonGitHub source codeHands-on tutorial
How it works
- Press START and wait for the signal.
- After a random 2 to 5-second delay, the screen turns green.
- Click quickly: the script measures the elapsed time in milliseconds.
- Clicking too early counts as a false start; try to beat your best time.
What you'll learn
You will practice Tkinter event handling, random delays with random.randint(), scheduling via window.after() and precise timing with time.perf_counter().
How to run it
Download or clone the GitHub repository, open a terminal in the project folder and run python reaction_timer.py. If your system uses python3, run python3 reaction_timer.py. Tkinter must be available.
